Community College System
After study, a League position was adopted in 2003 which is used to develop a broad constituency of public support to ensure continuing access for all to the community colleges, as established in the 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education in California.
Education of the public and lawmakers is an important thrust of League effort. Publications about the colleges are provided for general distribution about how the colleges are financed and governed.

College Access for Everyone: Removing Early
Barriers
This League publication reinforces the importance of the community
college system in our state, and then identifies and
addresses the early barriers to community college access for
California's students.
A Guide for Parents in English
and Spanish
outlines how parents can help their
children develop rewarding careers through post-secondary education.
These guides, published by the League of Women Voters of California Community College System Committee, were made possible through a grant from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
| Fact Sheets for Legislators |
Since governance and finance of the system are so complicated, and legislative term limits create a new generation of legislators with each state-wide election, the League provides briefing materials for them and their staffs, and has ongoing communication with these offices.
