Open Door Computer TrainingIt is not often that one can honestly say "...time goes fast when you're having fun." But after attending the Open Door e-mail training program on Thursday May 13 at the Masters Institute, I can honestly say that it's been proven true. I am, or was, a rank beginner in computers, but the session conducted by Debbie Hunt and Virginia Crespo was superb. Part I of the Open Door project was presented: How to do E-mail. As new/incoming President of the Santa Cruz County League, I hope to convince my Board and members to invite Open Door to present Part 11: How to Surf the Web. And I am ready to suggest setting up a website for Santa Cruz. Among other things taught and learned at the training class were a glossary of terms, what the Internet is, proper on-line etiquette, domains, differences between browsers, search engines, etc. In addition, we were given 'hotmail' e-mail addresses and sent and received messages from one another. The website training should allow me to explore and expand my capabilities. The League, through the resources of an anonymous donor, is to be commended for helping us as we enter the 21st Century. I am very excited about the Open Door Project and heartily encourage all Leagues to utilize it. - Don Gottesman, L WV Santa Cruz County
