The Easy Reader Voter Guide

New to our repertoire of election materials this June will be the Easy Reader Voter Guide. This guide is available in four languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese. This popular, simplified election guide is written at the sixth grade level and includes a thumbnail sketch of each ballot measure as well as material on the candidates and the political parties. The information on the latter two comes from the candidates and the parties themselves.

As members of an exciting new consortium which includes the California Voter Foundation, Secretary of State's Office and the State Literacy Resource Center, we are pleased to be able to offer the Easy Reader to Leagues for the first time.

League's involvement in the production is primarily editing to make certain that the arguments for and against the ballot measures are fair to both sides and are impartial. Look for this publication during the June 1998 Primary.
